What is a LIFE project?

The LIFE program is an EU support program for the completion of environmental and climatic efforts in Natura 2000 areas – those special nature reserves. A LIFE project must revolve around preserving plants and animals that are threatened by extinction.
When applying for a LIFE project, the project must focus on nature. It must also describe how the project will affect the surrounding society. Therefore, it is also important that the project creates value for the people who live near it. To complete a LIFE project, it is important to have a close dialogue with the EU representatives to ensure that deadlines and formal requirements are kept. This allows for project adjustments in response to gained knowledge and cooperation with the landowners.

The EU supports the project with 9,3 million Euros, which is about 60% of the overall project budget.
